Basic Handgun Class

Basic Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes for Owning and Operating a Pistol Safely. Safe Gun Handling, Pistol Shooting and Maintaining a Pistol.

Whether you're a new or prospective gun owner or hunter, whatever your age or level of expertise, whichever fierarm you're interested in, our instructors and training materials have you covered.

This class is $125 and limited to 10 people.

Intermediate Handgun Class

Drawing from a Holster while Concealed Carry, Reloading and Malfunction Drills, Immediate Action Engagement of Multiple Targets, Use of Cover and Concealment.

This class is $125 and limited to 10 people.

You need to have gone through the Basic Handgun Class before taking this class.

Advanced Handgun Class

This class covers shooting while moving, shooting while properly using cover and concealment and a shooting in low-light situations utilizing a flashlight.  You will need a good flashlight with fresh batteries, a minimum of 200 rounds of ammunition for your weapon. If you do not have your own weapon you may use one of ours free of charge and purchase the ammunition.

This class is $125 and limited to 10 people.

 

USCCA Course

The USCCA Concealed Carry Course is a comprehensive course for anyone considering carrying a firearm for self-defense. This course is 6-7 hours which includes both classroom and range components, uses a laser-training gun to develop point-shooting skills in the classroom and culminates with live fire on a range.

This course covers the following topics: develop your own personal protection plan; understand conflict avoidance; situational awareness; understanding of the physiology of violent encounters; the legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath); and a guide to gear and gadgets. The course culminates with live fire on a range.

  Pistol Operator Course 1   Sheepdog Pistol Operator Course 1 will work on improving the pistol operating skills with the fundamental pistol drills. The pistol drills will cover the basic fundamentals of shooting while working through shooting drills. This course is for an individual with good shooting skills.  The course will be a 4 hour course. There will be physical movement during this course.  Equipment Requirements:  Pistol with 3 magazine and a double magazine holder or two single magazine holders.  Exterior Holster  Eyes and Ear Protection  250 rounds of approved ammo  LEO (Law Enforcement Officer), range member or approval by course instructor  All equipment will be inspected prior to class beginning. All participants must attend the entire course to receive a training certificate. Sheepdog Firearms Training does recommend the use of a full size pistol for this course, but the final decision will be left up to the student.  The cost of the course will be $150.00 (10 slots for this course)

Hunter Ed March.jpg

The traditional hunter education course is a minimum 8 hours of instruction plus a written examination. The course is taught by Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries personnel and instructors to participants 10 years of age and older and is offered free of charge. The course includes but is not limited to firearms safety and handling, responsible hunting and hunter ethics, wildlife laws, wildlife management and identification, archery, muzzleloading, first aid, survival and game care.
